For the third consecutive year the FIP Global Vaccination Summit was held in The Hague, bringing together FIP Member Organisations and experts from Australia, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, France, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA and Uruguay. Pharmacy-based vaccination for ageing and at-risk populations was the focus of this two-day summit, where participants examined how expanding pharmacy vaccination services can help address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases, demographic change and antimicrobial resistance.
Discussions explored scientific advances, the economic value of pharmacy vaccination and the role of life-course immunisation in preventing respiratory and cardiometabolic complications. Interactive workshops addressed regulatory barriers, scope of practice, digital integration, vaccine hesitancy among older adults, and education and certification models. Case studies from several regions also highlighted implementation experiences. FIP will publish a report summarising key insights and recommendations later this year.
